Visualizing flow lines - air and water
Industrial composting plants consist of more technology than you might think. For example, rotting material is passed through with air under a special membrane to create an ideal climate. Condensation water that is produced is drained away via a drainage system.
How everything works inside a composting plant was explained in a 3D explanatory video. And that included the simulation of air currents and water drainage.

The explanatory video explains the three most important steps of the composting process. Starting with proper ventilation, which is animated using visual flow lines.
Another important step is emission retention, which uses a special membrane to ensure that odors and moisture remain in the compost. 3D models of bacteria, spores and microbes illustrate this very clearly.
And last but not least, the drainage of the system is animated by the water flowing back through the integrated drains. Here, too, flow lines were simulated in the explanatory video.

How can air be shown in an animation video?
This question arose during the preliminary discussions with our customer. Air can be felt, but not seen. But it had to be visible for the explanatory video.
This is not a problem in 3D animation videos. This can be simulated very vividly using specially animated flow lines that follow a predetermined course. In addition, these flow lines can be changed in color to even distinguish between cold and warm air. In this way, the air circulation within the rotting material can be implemented very easily and clearly, unlike in real films.

From the illustrated storyboard to the finished explainer video
The animation creation process begins with a consultation with the customer. What should be shown? Which process steps are important? What should be explained in detail? All of these questions are included in an initial rough, bullet-point description of the process. An illustrated storyboard is then created on this basis. In this storyboard, all of the important steps are shown as they will be seen in the later 3D animation. You as the customer can therefore see in advance what the later explanatory video will look like and incorporate any corrections you may want.

Similar to circulating air, a water flow can also be animated. In this case, the aim was to show how condensation water slowly flows downwards through branches and is drained away via special drainage systems. Here, too, flow lines were used, but these flow through several columns of water.
